The Aztec civilization was a civilization consisting of Nahua speaking ethnic groups residing in central Mexico. The most dominant group was the Mexica, who settled in the Valley of Mexico at around the 13th century, and founded the city of Tenochtitlan in 1325 CE and Tlatelolco in 1337 CE. Then in 1428, the city of Tenochtitlan, Texoco, and Tlacoplan allied and formed the Mexica Triple Alliance after the Tenapec Wars, which was a hegemony in which surrounding city-states and territories under the Mexica had to pay tributes and/or offer captives for religious sacrifices. In 1517, Spanish Conquistador Hernan Cortez arrive at the Yucatan peninsula, and brought fall of the Triple Alliance in 1521 when the Viceroy of New Spain was formed.
