  • Flag of Great Britain (1707–1800).svg Quebec City, Province of Quebec, British America: December 24–25 (Point of Divergence) – Three burglars enter the house of Governor Guy Carleton. Carleton, awoken from their intrusion, goes downstairs to investigate. One of the burglars mistakes Carleton for a guard and stabs him in his abdomen. The next day, Governor Carleton is found dead by his family. This, combined with the Boston Tea Party a week prior, would fuel Great Britain's vengeance against their North American subjects.
